Quality Press Author Book Proposal Guidelines

The marketing department of Quality Press is responsible for the promotion and sale of each title ASQ publishes. Working collaboratively with each author, the staff is charged with identifying the markets for your book and creating a strategic plan that will ensure market penetration and sales. The marketing process begins approximately three months before each title's publication date, with staff composing the back cover copy for your book, preparing press releases, and writing all advertising copy.

Direct Marketing

The marketing staff develops specific marketing plans for each new Quality Press title. While marketing plans can vary from book to book, we promote each title through our strong direct mail marketing program, which is responsible for mailing nearly 1 million pieces each year. In addition, every new title is advertised in our biannual publications catalog mailed to 500,000 addresses worldwide. Quality Press mails press releases to specially selected public relations lists, catalog dealers, topically specific periodicals, ASQ officials, ASQ periodicals, and ASQ section and division newsletter editors to further promote your book.

By managing its own Online Bookstore, Quality Press makes our titles available for sale 24 hours a day/7 days a week. This online portal currently carries over 900 titles and is responsible for generating well over $1 million annually in sales. The marketing staff takes advantage of additional electronic marketing opportunities including:

  • The Quality Press Book of the Week. Each week one book is prominently displayed on the Bookstore homepage, with most new Quality Press titles advertised the same week the first press release mails.
  • The ASQ Weekly. This email newsletter is sent to over 50,000 ASQ members every two weeks and provides an excellent venue for promotion of your new book.
  • Quality Press News. The Quality Press email newsletter is sent once a month to Quality Press customers who are interested in receiving information on our latest titles.

Global Marketing

Quality Press recognizes the global scope and worldwide sales potential of its books and uses its expertise to market books into additional international distribution channels. Some of these channels include: bookstores and libraries, distribution through other association catalogs, additional online booksellers, and international sales through exclusive distribution agreements with firms in Paris, Hong Kong, Brazil, Singapore, and Australia.

The marketing of the books has been superb. Quality Press reaches a vast number of people exactly within the target audience of the books, and can market them through their journals, catalogs, online bookstore, and various events and conferences.
